Alex Rothwell is Chief Executive Officer of the NHS Counter Fraud Authority, a role he has held since 2021. He spent over 30 years with the Metropolitan Police Service and City of London Police, completing his career as a Detective Chief Superintendent and holding senior national roles including Head of National Fraud Operations and Deputy National Policing Coordinator for Economic Crime. With extensive strategic, operational, and investigative experience in fraud, cybercrime, and financial crime, Alex has led major fraud and cyber units in the UK and internationally. Since joining the CFA, he has overseen the delivery of more than £500 million in fraud prevention outcomes over three years, strengthening the NHS’s approach to protecting public funds.
