Tom Poole is a Senior Vice President at Capital One, where he leads the Emerging Payments and AirKey organizations. In his role, Tom drives innovation in the payments industry, focusing on solutions that offer security, convenience, and control to customers. This includes developing unique capabilities like Capital One's virtual card numbers, which enhance security for online purchases, and forming partnerships to improve the e-commerce experience. Tom oversees AirKey, Capital One's patented, one-tap authentication technology for credit and debit cards. AirKey technology enables customers to activate their card and approve high-risk transactions. This team is also responsible for making AirKey available to other financial institutions looking to prevent fraud. With over 26 years at Capital One, Tom has a deep background in the US Card business, with experience ranging from credit policy to customer management. He transitioned to digital work in 2010, where he launched the Capital One mobile app and led consumer identity services. Tom lives in Fairfax, Virginia with his wife, Lori. A not-quite-empty-nester, he has four children, with three in college or graduated and one in high school. In his spare time, Tom enjoys boating, commodities trading, and home improvement.
